10. Results of the usability test
Performance results:
Subject 1 | Subject 2 | Subject 3
View the usability test script in project 1 | 2s | - | 12s |
View project 2 | 5s | - | 7s |
View the ethnography study in project 3 | 33s | - | 9s |
View the results of the usability test in the example project | 54s | - | 17s |
*Note: Subject 2 self-administered the usability test, so I was unable to time their performance
Performance questions and responses:
Subject 1 | Subject 2 | Subject 3
How would you rate the usability of the website? | 4 | 4 | 3 |
How would you rate the appearance of the website? | 2 | 3 | 3 |
What did you like best about the website? | The layout is obvious | Very quick response to move from page to page | The links were clear |
What do you think should be changed about the website? | More consistency across pages | Should have an obvious way to navigate around the various pages [especially getting back to the home page] without using the back button. Also, it's quite stark which is good if the sole purpose is functionality, but not very welcoming if for the general public. | Numbering on project 1 is confusing |
11. Describe how to access the project’s implementation; i.e, what is the URL for the website, or what is the process for downloading the .apk for the application
Go to http://noahfreed.com/labbook.html.
12. Record the actual time spent by each team member to (a) research, (b) design, (c) implement, and (d) test the project implementation
Actual time spend to complete the project:
Noah
Research: 5m
Design: 45m
Implementation: 145m
Testing: 45m
Total: 240m
13. Summarize what perspective users liked and disliked about the application
Users generally liked the straight-forward structure of the website design and its responsiveness, but felt that it could use more consistent page formats and more visual interest. Additional requests included ways to navigate the website without relying on the back button and revising the numbering on the project tasks to be less confusing. One user was confused at how "slow response" could be considered a positive on the example project.
Note: the header links were added based on user feedback.
14. What I learned
I learned that having links to navigate within pages of a website, rather than relying on using the back button, is helpful. I also learned that creating a website takes longer than I expected. Finally, I learned that I was supposed to include what I learned on this site, despite not being in the original assignment.
